I wanted to share some things we did when we were in New Zealand.
From adventure and site seeing, to shopping, drinks and food.
Adventure and Site Seeing
Mount Maunganui
Mount Maunganui is a light hike with incredible views the entire way. It's not a strenuous hike, but it definitely made me break a sweat! I had to stop multiple times during the hike to capture the amazing scenery.
Pori Pori Waterhole, Tauranga
Jumping off rocks, dunking your head under water falls, swimming on a hot summer day.. experience all of this at the Pori Pori Waterhole.
Adventure Forest, Tauranga
This forest was full of different obstacles you had to tackle in order to level up. There were 6 levels and each one became incrementally more challenging. If you are looking to really test your strength and endurance, you should definitely attempt level 6. It took me over an 1 hour to complete and had my muscles burning the entire way. Blue Lake, Rotorua
We came to blue lake to relax after the adventure forest and eat pizza with a view. It is the perfect place to go for a swim, have a picnic, or sit on the steps and just enjoy this beautiful site.
Redwoods Treewalk, Rotorua
Lanterns in the forest make my heart sooo happy! I absolutely loved this experience. Not only do they have these beautiful lights but they have enlightening facts you can read along the way. It isn't strenuous in the slightest, so people of all fitness levels can enjoy. If you are afraid of heights that is a different story. For more information click here.
Omanawa Falls, Tauranga
This was by far one of the coolest, most beautiful, breathtaking places I have ever been to. I will say, the hike to get there was VERY challenging. We had to climb over walls and down ladders. It's important to be careful and aware of your surroundings when hiking here because there are some dangerous parts. It truly was an experience of a life time and it was by far worth the struggle. This is perfect for anyone obsessed with the natural wonders of the world.
Shopping
Paper Plane Store
I didn't do too much shopping while I was here but I wanted to highlight one place in particular. The first photo is taken at the Paper Plane Store. I could seriously spend hours here! It has books, home decor, clothes, skin products, and much more. It's located at the Mount, where there is plenty more shopping. For more information on what the Mount has to offer click here.
Food and Drinks
The Astrolabe, Mount Maunganui
You know when you walk into a place and can automatically feel the good energy, that is how I felt when I walked into this place. I was just so happy. Probably because I am a sucker for a good beer in an aesthetically pleasing place. Good beer, great decor and energy that will put a smile on your face. Highly recommend this astrolabe. Mount Brewing Co.
Beer, dumplings, and good company. This was the first brewery I have ever been to that serves dumplings as their primary food option. And let me tell you, I now think it should be a requirement for all breweries, especially when they are as delicious as the ones here. For more about the Mount Brewing Co. click here.
I had the most incredible time in New Zealand and am extremely grateful. Each time I go back to visit Dan's family, I fall in love with this beautiful place even more. I can't wait till we are back again.
